Governor Abbott today participated in a fireside chat at the CHOSEN Conference in Plano, advocating for adoption and foster care resources in Texas. Sharing his personal experience, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of adoption, stating, "When I think about all of the decisions I have made as Governor, Attorney General, and in other roles I've had in my life, without a doubt, the best decision I have ever made was to adopt a child."
Reflecting on his decision to adopt a child, Governor Abbott expressed his unwavering commitment to parenthood, saying, "To every family who is interested in adopting a child: once you get past the uncertainty and make a decision, dive deeply into it, give it your heart and soul." He highlighted the rewards of being a parent, encouraging others to consider adoption or fostering, "If you're thinking about adopting or fostering a child, go for it and never look back, and you will experience unparalleled joys in your life."
Governor Abbott showcased the resources available to Texas families interested in adoption or fostering, including the Texas Child-Centered Care System, Rainbow Rooms, and Heart Galleries of Texas—a project supported by First Lady Cecilia Abbott. The Governor celebrated the blessing of adoption and shared the impact it has had on his family, presenting a slideshow of photos capturing their journey with their daughter, Audrey.
The Governor was accompanied at the conference by Prestonwood Baptist Church Senior Pastor Jack Graham and other advocates for adoption and foster care.
