The Boys and Girls Club of Midland (BGCPB) has announced a new partnership with Midland's Code Ninja, a kid’s coding franchise.

The partnership was announced in a video montage by BGCPB.

The partnership kicked off on January 19 with a special BGCPB Coding Club promotion day, marking the beginning of a coding curriculum for participating students. Since then, students have engaged in a total of eight coding sessions, with six sessions remaining for the semester.

Under the guidance of Code Ninjas instructors, students have made progress by advancing an average of two levels within the curriculum, which consists of ten learning activities per level. The collective progress of students ranges from levels 1.3 to 4.1.

"I've seen them become more creative in what they are doing just outside of what they normally would,” said Assistant Center Director at Code Ninjas Karen Muniz in the video. “I've seen them read a little bit better, retain some of the information, and then apply it to future projects. Their confidence has gotten a lot better. We've seen that they come in ready to work. They know what to do and they're not needing as much help as when we first started."

The partnership was made possible by a grant from a private foundation along with support from local Midland partnerships.

According to Code Ninjas website, Code Ninjas is renowned as the world’s largest and fastest-growing kids' coding franchise, with locations across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Beyond coding skills, kids participating in Code Ninjas gain creativity, problem-solving abilities, critical thinking skills, and exposure to STEM concepts in a fun and inspiring environment.
