Kevin Dawson, the influencer behind the Maybe in Midland-Odessa Facebook group, said the local lake area development plans prioritize a thorough flood study to minimize the potential impact on surrounding properties and to make new developments. Dawson was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.

“A lake area that they're going to develop, conducting a true flood study to minimize flooding impact in the neighborhood," said Dawson on a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. “When they built the golf course there, they didn't address that, and it created issues where we had, a couple of years ago, a 25-year flood, where water wasn't coming into houses but was coming up to the right up to the foot of the house.”

“They're going to ensure that minimizes that impact, and then it flows into the draw behind it and allows that, so they'll have a boardwalk component—much like there's a place in Abing called Allen Ridge, by Abing Christian University, that built this great little pond and boardwalk with restaurants and shops," Dawson said, "They're kind of mimicking some of that, but then they've got 123 acres; but 80 of that will be for development.”

Dawson is an influencer known for being behind the Maybe in Midland-Odessa Facebook group.
