The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) is set to host its inaugural ERCOT Innovation Summit in Austin on May 21. In a press release issued by ERCOT on April 1, the organization announced that the event aims to convene leaders from across the energy research and innovation ecosystem to explore innovative solutions for grid transformation.
Although ERCOT has confirmed that the in-person attendance list is full, it stated that those interested in attending the summit virtually can do so by logging onto https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/3LGRBP9.
Pablo Vegas, ERCOT President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said in the release that stakeholders from Texas and throughout the U.S. will have an opportunity to engage in collective discussions about transformation opportunities and challenges.
According to the release, featured industry executives and subject matter experts will be part of a carefully curated agenda of discussion panels. Venkat Tirupati, ERCOT Vice President of DevOps and Grid Transformation, said in the release that the event presents a valuable opportunity for industry peers to network and brainstorm.
As per information on ERCOT's website, Vegas joined the team as president and CEO in 2022. A seasoned professional with experience in both electric and gas industries, Vegas has worked for various companies including NiSource and American Electric Power. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan.
ERCOT, responsible for overseeing Texas's energy grid, stated on its website that it manages the flow of electric power to 26 million people within Texas. It operates as a non-profit organization governed by a board of governors and is overseen by both the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the Texas Legislature.
