Head Above Water Midland, a local swim school that provides swim lessons and water safety courses, announced the construction of a new indoor natatorium. The downtown location at 1009 and 1011 W. Illinois was chosen to make access convenient for families.

"What inspired me to purchase land downtown stemmed from a problem,” said founder of Head Above Water Midland Jessica McCoy. “It was hard to find a piece of land that would be accessible to the families I serve, but I had working parents in mind, as well.”

McCoy credits her husband, Matt McCoy, for locating the site. "My husband is really good at data function and finding good spots around Midland, because he was born and raised here," she said.

According to McCoy, their program will be different because "we reduce the total amount of time and investment parents spend in swim lessons.”  She said a dedicated meeting space will be provided for parents to observe swim lessons and attend water safety classes.

The facility will feature garage doors opening into a courtyard for fresh air and outdoor play, private parking, towel service, and a pool equipped with quality water, filtration systems, and pool heating, according to McCoy. McCoy plans to host water safety events and community networking events at the new facility.

The McCoys are currently hiring swim instructors for the new facility, and are interested in employing stay-at-home-moms who are looking to join the workforce.
