At 1:06 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, Midland Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop in southwest Midland that resulted in an officer-involved shooting.
Midland Police reported that two officers conducted a traffic stop in the 3600 block of Bankhead Highway. During the stop, the driver started to flee. An officer fired shots, and the driver suffered a single gunshot wound.
The driver was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and is being treated.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident. The officer involved was placed on administrative leave in accordance with MPD policy.
