Five Midland residents have filed to run for the at-large seat on the Midland City Council that opened as a result of the passing of Midland City Council member Dan Corrales.

The May 4, 2024, special election candidates include Cheston Blank, John Burkholder, Eric Davidson, James R. “Bull” Henry and Ben Roberts. An at-large seat requires candidates to seek votes city-wide.

The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of the at-large term, which ends in January 2025. Should a winner of the race seek to serve as an-large council representative for another term, he would be required to run for office again in November.

There will be seven days of early voting for the May 4 election (April 22-26 and April 29-30), according to Midland County Elections Office. Early voting will take place at the Midland County Elections Office, 2110 N. “A” St.

The filing period ran from Feb. 13 to March 4, 2024.
