Midland Humane Coalition received the exciting opportunity to have two of its rescued puppies featured in a feature film being shot in West Texas. While the puppies will not play a starring role in the film, they do play a pivotal role in the film’s production.
The puppies, Chip and Cookie, were rescued by Midland Humane Coalition in December of 2023. The siblings were transferred from Midland Animal Services at just a few weeks old and went into foster care where they could receive the care and attention they needed to thrive. Chip and Cookie are schnauzer mixes and were chosen for the film because of their sweet demeanors and because they look enough alike to play the same role in the project.
The film is still in production, and at this time, specific details cannot be shared by MHC. More information on the film and its release will be shared as production progresses. While we are not able to share any plot details, MHC assures the public that production was done in accordance with MHC’s Mission and no puppies were harmed in the making of the film.
The puppies participated in filming in late February in Horizon, Texas. While on set, the puppies were looked after by Midland Humane Coalition’s Executive Director, Vanessa Medina. Of the experience on set, Medina says, “It’s amazing to watch how great our rescue puppies are doing in this experience. I am so proud to watch them do so well after everything they have gone through as rescue pups!”
Burgeoning film career aside, both puppies are looking for their forever homes. Their time in the spotlight was enjoyable, but both pups are eager to enjoy a simple and loving life back home in the Permian Basin. Both Chip and Cookie are now available for foster-to-adopt.
