Children’s author: Writing a book ‘has always been something that I dreamed about’

Rosie Talley, West Texas resident and children’s book author, said she pursued her dream of writing and publishing a book after the birth of her daughter inspired her. Talley was a guest on a recent episode of the Best of Midland Podcast.

“That has always been something that I dreamed about, ever since I was a little girl,” said Talley on a recent edition of the Best of Midland Podcast. “As I said I grew up on a farm with my dad. I would follow him around as he would do tours and sometimes when you have a kid underfoot you have to figure out how to keep them busy. So for him, he would do that by encouraging me to tell stories.”

“I've always had that love of storytelling from the time I was a little girl and then I grew up and I had my daughter, she was four months old when I wrote Linus the Troll,” Talley said. “I just pretty much wrote it because I felt like how am I going to encourage her to follow her dreams if I've never followed my own, and so that was really what helped launch that career.“

Linus the Troll is a children’s picture book about a troll named Linus who looks frightening on the outside, but is actually friendly and loving. Talley has also published a second Linus book, The Island of Huggles, and a guide called How to Self-Publish a Children's Book.
