One of the notable hires is Victoria Ellington, who has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff. Ellington, a Houston native, previously served as the Director of Operations for the DeSantis presidential campaign. She also worked as a Special Assistant to Secretary Mike Pompeo at the U.S. Department of State during the Trump Administration. Ellington's experience includes fundraising for the Congressional Leadership Fund and working in the office of Congressman Pete Olson. She is a graduate of the University of Houston.
In addition to the new hires, several key staffers have been promoted within Sen. Cruz's office. Omri Ceren, who has served as the senator's National Security Advisor since 2018, has been promoted to Legislative Director. Before joining Sen. Cruz's staff, Ceren worked at The Israel Project, a nonprofit focused on Middle East issues. He also has a doctorate in Communication from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication.
Tim Dill, who has been serving as the Military Legislative Assistant since 2022, has been promoted to National Security Advisor. Dill has an impressive background, starting his career as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and eventually joining Special Forces as a Captain. After his military service, he attended law school at Duke University and worked as an associate at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington DC.
Samara Brown, who has been with Sen. Cruz's office since 2019, has been promoted to Domestic Policy Advisor. Brown began her career on Capitol Hill and worked in former Congressman Tom Reed's office before joining Sen. Cruz's team. She has steadily advanced in her roles, starting as a Legislative Correspondent and rising to Senior Legislative Assistant. Brown is a graduate of the University of Virginia.
Lastly, Cassy Garcia is returning to Sen. Cruz's office as the Deputy State Director. Garcia, an Edinburg native, previously served as the South Texas Regional Director and Deputy State Director. She also held the position of Commissioner for the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative, appointed by President Trump in 2020. Garcia is a respected figure in Texas politics and recently served as the President of the Hispanic Republicans of Texas.
