The City of Midland Animal Services will be closed on Thursday, February 1, 2024, to allow staff members to participate in mandatory training to enhance their ability to provide the best care for the animals and the community they serve.

“The course will equip our staff with essential skills to manage the emotional and psychological challenges inherent in animal care and euthanasia,” said Melissa Griffin-Hobson, Animal Services manager. “Given the importance of this training, it is mandatory for all staff members to participate, hence the need to close our services for the day.

Managing Director of Public Safety Chuck Blumenauer wrote, “This is an extremely important class for the team.”

The Midland Animal Services is located at 1200 N. Fairgrounds Road. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Friday: 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

During this time on-call emergency staff and dog reclaims will be available by calling (432) 685-7420.

Emergencies (after regular business hours) should call the non-emergency number at (432) 685-7108.
