At Stake: Midland Legacy is coming off a huge district win against Midland where they took share of first. Odessa looks to stop their losing skid.

What to watch: Odessa is fueled by junior quarterback Mikey Cota, who is coming off a fantastic performance where he had 347 yards and seven passing touchdowns.

Look for him to utilize his talented core of receivers. Ivan Carreon had 13 catches for 115 yards and four of Cota’s seven touchdowns last week. Jalen Warren caught four passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Rodriguez had a touchdown and a pair of catches.

Dejuan Green controls the ground game, and last week had 128 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Watch out for Carreon on defense, as well, as he had 10 tackles in last week’s game.

Midland Legacy got a huge momentum boost with a win over then-undefeated Midland in front of a huge crowd. They were led by Marcos Davila, who had 392 passing yards and three scores, while also getting to the end zone for a rushing touchdown. Aiden Serrano caught nine passes for 134 yards and a touchdown, and Brex Stephens caught four passes for 127 yards and a score.

Tommy Johnson III and Damien Johnson are the leaders of the running game. Last week they combined for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Johnson has generally been the top back this season, but Johnson had a chance to shine with 111 yards on the ground. Look for this duo to be a key factor this week.

Kicker Jason Maltos is the dark horse here, as he has been automatic. Last week he was 7-for-7 on extra points. He also had two touchbacks, and eight kickoffs for 390 yards.
