At Stake: Midland Christian is coming off a big 52-21 win over Fort Worth Christian, which broke a two game losing skid. Southwest Christian looks to get back on track after losing back-to-back games.

What to watch: Midland Christian enters the final week of the season, and it has been up-and-down for the Mustangs. Last week they had their biggest win of the season and look to build off this.

Colten Newsom is a top tier quarterback and last week he found Brylee Perez for a 32-yard touchdown pass on a rollout play where he hit him in the back corner of the end zone. Newsom also used his legs with a nine-yard touchdown run. On the day he had 134 rushing yards and a touchdown. In the air he was 10-for-16 for 92 yards and a pair of scores. He is a player who can scramble to find a receiver effectively, but also put on the afterburners to take off for a big run.

Perez had a 97-yard touchdown run against Fort Worth Christian and is the team’s big play threat due to his speed and elusive nature.

Boston Rodriguez had an interception, while Isaiah Mathew and Corbin Lievens picked up sacks. Brady Alsup stripped a ball carrier near the end zone on a kickoff and Colt Alexander hopped on the ball for a score.

The Mustangs are third in their district and have been outscored 198-260. They have a bye week before taking on the Eagles.

Southwest Christian is 0-2 in district play the past two weeks but were 5-1 to start the season otherwise. They have been outscored 136-195 this season and over the past two weeks they suffered 53-0 and 49-0 shutouts to All Saints and Liberty Christian.

The Eagles are led by Bourke Toler, who through seven games had 138 carries for 729 yards and seven scores. Last week he had had 23 carries for 56 yards and the week before he had 19 carries for 42 yards, so the Eagles will look for him to step up. Quarterback Wyatt Averhoff is 18-for-53 for 305 yards, three touchdowns and three picks through six games.
