At Stake: Odessa had the tough task of facing Midland last week and lost big time bu 59-28. The team hopes to turn things around this week against Frenship.
The Bronchos are led by quarterback Mikey Cota, who has thrown for 2,504 yards, 29 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a completion percentage of 57.7%. Ivan Carreon (43 catches, 839 yards, 14 touchdowns), Jalen Warren (42 catches, 560 yards, seven touchdowns) and Andrew Rodriguez (35 catches, 638 yards, six touchdowns) are his main targets and should be major factors this week.
Dejuan Green is the lead running back with 805 yards and seven touchdowns with an average of seven yards per carry. Last week he only had three carries for 20 yards as they were playing from behind, but Green should be a key player for the Bronchos.
Frenship is coming off a win where they beat Permian on field goal late in the game during what was a slugfest 46-44 win.
Hudson Hutcheson was dominant with 425 yards and six touchdowns, on 24-for-30 passing. The week before he went off for 538 yards, five passing touchdowns and three more scores on the ground. It is safe to say he on a roll at just the right time, and has been one of the best quarterbacks going. On the year he has thrown for 2,888 yards, 29 touchdowns and six picks at a rate of 69.2%. He’s also the team’s leading rusher with 395 yards and five touchdowns.
Leyton Stone had eight catches for 205 yards and two touchdowns; Chase Campbell had 10 catches for 150 yards and three touchdowns; and Landon Hutcheson caught six passes fort 70 yards and one touchdown.
Stone has 60 catches for 1,066 yards and 12 touchdowns while Campbell has 42 catches for 864 yards and 13 touchdowns. Hutcheson has also tallied 49 catches for 518 yards and two scores. This is a trio that is tough to stop.
On defense Caydin Blakely is the player to watch, coming off a 15 tackle day that included a sack.
