Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans has begun the first phase of renovations, which are expected to last for nearly two years. The east side of the hospital has been fenced off to accommodate the construction work. Despite the renovations, the facility will remain open to serve the public.
In a Facebook post on October 3rd, the hospital expressed gratitude for the understanding and patience of visitors and employees during this time. They also assured everyone that extra measures have been taken to ensure that patient care is not disrupted.
The first round of renovations will focus on the medical/surgical floor, according to Leticia Rodriguez, the hospital's Chief Executive Officer (CEO). She stated that this is just the initial phase of a larger master plan. Once this phase is completed, the hospital will move on to constructing a new clinic.
Ward Memorial Hospital has a long history of serving the community. It first opened its doors in 1956 and underwent significant reconstruction in 1980 after a tornado destroyed part of the building. The hospital is licensed to have 25 beds and is also certified as a Level IV Trauma Center by the state.
The cost of Phase I of the renovations is estimated to be $13 million. Despite the construction work, the hospital remains fully operational and can be contacted at (432) 943-2511.
Visitors and employees at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans are advised to be patient and understanding during the ongoing renovations. The hospital is taking steps to minimize any inconvenience caused and ensure that patient care continues uninterrupted.
