Mayor Lori Blong of Midland, Texas, has released the latest video of her new initiative, "Ask Me Anything," on Sept. 12. The initiative, which was introduced in August, aims to provide an opportunity for community members to directly connect with the mayor and ask questions about topics they care about while contributing to the growth of Midland.
In the video titled "Mayor Edition," Blong addresses the first question in the series, which comes from a resident asking, "When will the Loop be finished?" This question has been a recent topic of interest among the community, including Blong herself.
Blong encourages community members to continue submitting their questions through the link bit.ly/AskMayorBlongAnything, assuring them that she will do her best to address them in future videos.
The Ask Me Anything sessions will be posted once a week and will feature answers to questions randomly selected from those submitted by the community. The videos will be posted on Blong's Facebook page, allowing the public to view her responses.
Engagement with City Hall from all members of the community is crucial for Midland's growth, according to Blong. She believes that hearing a range of perspectives from those who experience the city firsthand is essential. Therefore, she invites everyone to submit questions about any topic or concern they have through the provided link.
Mayor Blong, a native of Midland and a wife, mother, and local small business owner, has a track record of achieving results and advancing the city. She has been actively involved in navigating the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and enhancing city services through her work on the city council.
Prior to her role as mayor, Blong was a schoolteacher and now owns and manages Octane Energy alongside her husband. They have three children and are members of Stonegate Fellowship Church.
In addition to her responsibilities on the Midland City Council, Blong serves as the council liaison for Midland EDC, was previously the president at Habitat for Humanity, and is an active member of Congressman Pfluger's Energy Task Force and the Permian Basin Petroleum Association (PBPA) Board.
Mayor Blong's primary goal is to ensure the growth and prosperity of every Midland family. Her "Ask Me Anything" initiative is just one way she aims to connect with the community and address their concerns directly.
