After noticing corruption in the Republican party, Sarah Stogner has announced her candidacy for a spot on the Texas Railroad Commission. Stogner, a member of the Texas Forward Party, aims to address the lack of enforcement of regulations by the commission and provide honest representation to Texans. She plans to focus solely on the railroad commission and has a clear objective in mind. Stogner stated, "I literally just want to get into the railroad commission, fix it and get out." Her main goal is to ensure that citizens are well-informed about their property, minerals, and groundwater.

With her experience advising oil and gas clients and landowners, Stogner believes she can be a strong leader in her role on the railroad commission. She has garnered significant support from her community in the past, with people understanding and backing her efforts. Stogner's decision to join the Texas Forward Party stems from events such as the Ken Paxton impeachment and the growing divide within the Republican Party.

The Texas Railroad Commission, established in 1891, was initially created to regulate railroad prices and fees. However, since 2005, its jurisdiction has shifted to primarily overseeing industries related to oil and natural gas. The commission is governed by the Texas Constitution and has statutory responsibilities to enforce various acts, including the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Pipeline Safety Acts, and the Clean Water Act.

Stogner's announcement marks a significant step in her mission to combat corruption and bring about positive change within the Texas Railroad Commission. As the newest member of the Texas Forward Party, she hopes to make a lasting impact on the regulation of the oil and gas industry in the state.
