The Midland Police Department recently confirmed its plans to host a Battle of the Badges blood drive at one of its police stations this month in partnership with The American Red Cross.
“It's time for the ultimate showdown – Battle of the Badges Blood Drive! Donate blood with us on September 13th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Midland Police Station (601 N Loraine),” The Midland Police Department posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. “Let's rally behind our amazing Police Department as they go head-to-head with Midland Fire.”
According to Odessa's CBS 7, following years of successful blood drive events hosted by the department, this year’s event, held on Sept. 10-12, will continue at the Midland Park Mall in the former Verizon store. Hours of operation are from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Next week, according to CBS 7, the Midland Police Department will move to its headquarters as the drive winds down.
The American National Red Cross offers departments and organizations the chance to host blood donation events. The organization also encourages people to participate in blood services programs nationwide, according to its website.
Disaster relief, training and certification, and military family and international services are all a part of the organization's mission, the American Red Cross website states.
In promotion of the friendly competition, the American Red Cross' website states, “Battle of the Badges builds camaraderie among local first responders through a friendly competition to see who can recruit the most blood donors. Supporting the Red Cross blood supply is another great way to touch lives in the communities you serve every day.”
