USTA: Bailey Placke of Midland ranks 29,149th in Girls’ 18 singles points bracket in week ending Dec. 31

Bailey Placke of Midland finished 29,149th in the United States Tennis Association’s Girls’ 18 bracket in the week ending Dec. 31.

They earned no points to finish the week with eight single points.

Their ranking fell by 14 from the week before.

There are 43 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
