Meet Betsy

GENDER: Female

BREED: Collie

AGE: 12 years

SIZE: Medium

APPROXIMATE WEIGHT (lbs):

Betsy and Brittany are two senior female dogs that were recently surrendered by a family member of the pet owners. They were owned by an elderly couple who were moving into an assisted living situation that did not allow pets. Brittany is an 11 year old Poodle mix ( about 24 lbs). She would be more comfortable and healthier if she lost weight as she should be closer to 15-18 lbs. She seems very sweet but is quite depressed not being in her usual setting. She is fearful in the kennel environment but not snippy. She loves to be near the other dog Betsy and finds comfort in her familiarity. Betsy is a 12 year old female Collie /Corgi type mix with a large low to the ground body that is also quite overweight at 60 lbs plus. Betsy had a recent vet visit that revealed a very arthritic body and we have since started her on some meds to help alleviate some pain. She is sweet natured, friendly with people and other dogs. The former owner had a dog door that the dogs could use to go in and out. The larger dog does like to be outside more, whereas the smaller dog prefers to stay inside. While it would be great to keep them together, we would consider separate homes as well. They have done well with other small breed dogs. Cats unknown
