Midland tennis player Andre Perez ranks in Boys’ 18 singles points bracket in week ending May 14

Andre Perez of Midland finished 29,930th in the United States Tennis Association’s Boys’ 18 bracket in the week ending May 14.

They earned 19 points to finish the week with 19 single points.

There are 49 USTA players from Midland across all age categories.

Players earn points per round in tournaments, winning higher points the further into a tournament they advance.

Jarett Cascino of New York Tennis Magazine says tennis is one of the most competitive youth sports.

“There is always someone better than you on any given day, even if you are the number one player in the world!” he said.
