Prom season is around the corner.
Aside from homecoming and graduation, prom is the other campus event highly and eagerly anticipated by most high school students.
There's unfortunately some girls who are financially unable to buy a dress. And that's when Midland faith-based nonprofit organization 3:11 Ministries comes to the rescue.
NewsWest9 reported that 3:11 Ministries is holding its annual "Perfect PROMise" program, which is now in its seventh year.
The program helps local girls have one of the most memorable nights of their lives by giving them dresses, shoes and accessories for free.
"We want all those girls to have that opportunity to find their perfect dress and have their magical evening whether their parents can afford to help them or not," 3:11 Ministries Executive Director Sally Stafford told NewsWest9. "It is all for girls who may not otherwise be able to afford to go to prom and we believe it’s a milestone in every young woman's life that we want every girl to have that opportunity."
In a nod to Cinderella, 3:11 Ministries has women known as the "fairy godmothers" lend a hand with the drive.
The fairy godmothers work with the girls during their dress appointments, NewsWest9 reported.
According to 3:11 Ministries, any girl who comes in has about 2,000 dresses in various styles to choose from.
Stafford encourages women in the community to volunteer.
"You don’t need to know how to do hair or makeup or match everything perfectly," she told NewsWest9. "We just want good women in here to help these girls find their perfect dress."
