Country music legend Tracy Byrd is scheduled to perform during this year's annual Wildcatters event, a Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Permian Basin fundraising event this coming weekend at the Rolling 7s Ranch Event Center.

The award-winning Texas artist, best known for hits that include "Holdin' Heaven" and "Lifestyles of the Not so Rich and Famous," is expected to headline the 2021 Wildcatters fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 16. Tracy's other hits include "The Keeper of the Stars," "Heaven in My Woman's Eyes," "Don't Take Her She's All I've Got," and "A Good Way to Get on My Bad Side." The latter was a sung in a duet with Mark Chesnutt.

Full-time police officer and part time musician Jeff Carson is scheduled to open for Tracy. Carson's career, which includes an Academy of Country Music Award for Video of the Year for "The Car," is something he does on weekends and vacations, according to even promotional materials.

The Wildcatters event is a jeans-wearing, boot-stomping, adults-only good time that includes events such as ranch-style midway games like the "Wine, Whiskey and 'Whatever'" ring toss and a laser-powered pistol shooting gallery. Gourmet s’mores by the campfire and a silent auction also are planned and there will be bids for trips to the Canadian Rockies, the Amalfi Coast and Iceland with AmFund.

"Wildcatters is a great event that supports Big Brothers Big Sisters’ work with at-risk children in our community," said Event Chair Shellie Robbins Young in a press release. "Join us in 'wildcatting' to fund the mentoring programs that ensure a brighter future for our tomorrow."

Sponsorship levels run from the $2,500 "Silver" level to the $40,000 "Wildcatter" level. The event also offers $500 and $1,000 "Underwriter" levels.

Individual tickets are $100.

Funds raised through the event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Permian Basin, which provides free mentorship and other services to children in Midland and Odessa who are facing adversities, such as those from single-parent homes or who have incarcerated parents.
