The Midland Fire Department has teamed with the State Fire Marshall’s Office and the American Red Cross to offer free smoke detectors to residents.
Residents can receive free smoke detectors by calling 432-685-7333. Installation of the smoke detector is included.
Residents can also schedule a home safety survey if they meet one of these conditions: if they live in a home with someone over the age of 75 and/or under the age of 5; or the home was built before 1950; or they live in a home with someone who is subject to fall injuries; or without a working smoke detector; or if they suspect may have electrical hazards.
In addition, all fire stations have car seat technicians who are available for car seat safety inspections or installations. Free blood pressure checks also are available at each fire station between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day.
Midland Fire Department and City of Midland Public Safety Communications Center are working to improve the care and identification of patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through a citywide registry. To register an individual, complete the Autism database form.
