Midland high school seniors are doing better on a test that measures how well they are prepared for life after high school.

In the class of 2019, 63% of student met the standard score on the College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) test compared to 55% in the class of 2018, the Midland Independent School District said in a news release. The test is used by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to measure how well students are prepared when they leave high school.

"This is a clear testament to the work we've been doing in pursuit of our mission that all students will graduate prepared and ready for college or career," said Jeff Horner, Midland ISD executive director of secondary education. "This demonstrates significant strides, and is evidence of  positive outcomes that resulted from intentional and strategic efforts on the part of Midland ISD."

The results were for all students including those who didn't graduate.

At Early College High School,100% of students met the standard, the school district said. Students at Midland, Lee, and Coleman High Schools all showed improvement from 2018, the news release said.
