Buckner Children & Family Services issued the following announcement on June 16.
The Buckner Children’s Home in the Rio Grande Valley was recognized for their dedication to family and community development and serving vulnerable communities. The Maximus Foundation seeks to serve the most vulnerable and at-risk communities across the U.S. and around the globe, creating a perfect opportunity to work side-by-side with Buckner.
Through this grant, the Rio Grande Valley Children’s Home will be financially supported to continue to provide enrichment and education programs, supportive services to families and community development. This gift is paramount during the coronavirus pandemic to continue supporting vulnerable families in south Texas.
“During these extraordinary times, many organizations have stepped up to continue to be cornerstones of the community," said John Boyer, Maximus Foundation chairman. "Not only is Buckner providing essential services, but through their programming and leadership, they uplift the most vulnerable members of the community during particularly challenging and important times."
“Buckner supports people, addresses their needs and helps them keep reaching their goals and aspirations," he continued. "With this award, we recognize Buckner for their critical role in building a foundation of strength and support within our community despite the COVID-19 pandemic.”
The Maximus Foundation grant will help assist the Rio Grande Valley foster homes in preparing children for permanency with their biological parents, placement with relatives or adoption.
“The Rio Grande Valley Children's Home is very appreciative of the generous donation received from the Maximus Foundation," said Andi Harrison, regional director for Buckner Foster Care and Adoption. "We have a longstanding history of serving the foster care population, and this donation will allow us to continue to provide the support and services that sets Rio Grande Children’s Home apart as a child-placing agency.”
