Msgr. Pope is Pastor of Holy Comforter-St. Cyprian parish in the Archdiocese of Washington DC. He is a regular host on the popular radio program, 'Morning Glory', heard each weekday at 6 AM across the Guadalupe Radio Network. A prolific author, Msgr. Pope is a frequent contributor to the National Catholic Register and Our Sunday Visitor

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he was ordained a priest in 1983 and ordained an auxiliary bishop in Washington, D.C. in 2002. Since 2009, Bishop Burns has served as the Bishop of Juneau, Alaska. Prior to that, the 59-year-old bishop served the Catholic Church on the national level as Executive Director of the Secretariat for Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. from 1999 -2008. In 2008 he was also named the Rector of St. Paul Seminary in Pittsburgh.
In addition to his duties as Bishop of Dallas, Bishop Burns currently serves as Chairman of the USCCB Committee on the Protection of Children and Young People, a member of the Subcommittee on Catholic Home Missions, and serves on the Catholic Relief Services Board of Directors. Bishop Burns has also been a frequent Bishop Catechist at World Youth Day events and a presenter at convocations, conventions and retreats nationwide.
