Driven by her strong play, senior guard Madison Hartman has led the Greenwood Rangerettes to a playoff berth.
However, it was only five month ago when playing in the playoffs seemed only like a pipe dream. A devastating ACL tear made it appear unlikely that she would even pick up a basketball this season.
“I was playing on a summer travel team and I was going for a fast break,” Madison Hartman recently told KOSA.
“And I just kinda jumped off it wrong. I fell on the floor, but my dad was telling me to get up. And I was like, ‘Uh, it's not something to get up from.’ I knew it was my knee. I was just praying it wasn't an ACL, but it was."
Hartman quickly found out that recovering from this type of injury wasn’t just simple physical rehab.
“It was the mental part, just being OK you can trust it you can run,” Hartman told KOSA. “And learning how to do stuff over again -- that was probably the hardest part for me.”
