Voter fatigue seems to be a thing of the past for Midland County residents.
In fact, since 2004, there hasn’t been a primary election in Midland with more total number of voters.
According to the Midland County Elections Office, there were 13,281 early votes cast for this week's primary. That figure includes all mailed-in ballots.
The number of early votes easily bested the 10,449 early votes cast in 2016.
Much of the voting enthusiasm seems to be coming from the Republican side.
Midland County once again solidified its conservative reputation. Since 2004, an average of 87.5 percent of the votes cast in any primary election went to candidates running on the Republican Party ticket.
It is still unsure whether the total number of voters will match the count from 2016.
In that particular year, the county registered 24,446 total votes, or 32.39 percent of all eligible voters.
