Midland City Council recently gave its approval for an economic development and commercial sublease agreement with Kepler Aerospace.

Kepler Aerospace is slated to move into the Midland Air and Space Port.

The high-tech company develops satellite delivery systems via modern plasma technologies.

Kepler Aerospace will be looking to move into the hangar and business park space that was formerly occupied by Orbital Outfitters.

Although Kepler Aerospace was given the thumbs up for the move, it was not, however, unanimous.

"Ten years ago, when the space port conversation started, the economy in Midland looked a lot different than it does today,” City Councilman Spencer Robnett told News West9.

“We're $25 million into the space port, and we have nothing to show for it. I think the longer we continue to enter agreements, we'll be wasting taxpayer dollars.”

Kepler Aerospace is anticipated to open its Midland headquarters by this summer.
